A stay-at-home dad from Portland, Oregon...

Stephen Weingarten

How did winning on Jeopardy! change your life?
Well, you know, the thing is, winning on Jeopardy! might've been the best possible thing I could have done for my, uh, future happiness and mental health, because now I can keep watching Jeopardy! without kicking myself constantly. 'Cause it's my favorite show anyway, and I don't know what it would've been like if I hadn't won, and I don't know if I ever could've watched again. So... uh, so that was great, but it--it changed my life in other ways, too, because I was able to, uh, quit my day job and become a stay-at-home dad. I have a five-month-old now, and, uh, so I stay home with her and take care of her, and it's made it possible for us to be able to do that, which is great.

How did you celebrate your original run on the show?
Oh! Well, we celebrated by, uh, having a party, at my, uh, we--we watched the show with my parents at their lake house, and we had, uh, twenty or thirty people over--family and friends, uh, just watching and enjoying it. Uh, we bought a new car with a five-star safety rating for the baby, to be safe--safer than my old 1990-model Honda. And, uh, um, we just, y'know, we just really enjoyed, uh, having some--some flexibility in--in what we do--in what we were able to do.

Did you learn anything from your previous appearance that will help you in this tournament?
I learned that when I get a, uh, Daily Double, even if there's only one clue left, go for it. Because, uh, that's the one thing that I've been kicking myself over. I only, uh... only wagered $100 and ended up knowing it. Uh, and I won the game, but I won--it was a come-from-behind win, so this time, no more mistakes, I'm gonna go for it with the Daily Double.
