A librarian from Evanston, Illinois...

Lynne Wexler

First appearance:
January 1991

Total Winnings:
$71,351

Favorite anecdote:
Just that my 15 minutes lasted for several years, as local fans get very attached and continue to recognize you for a LONG time!

Effect on my life:
Cleared my debts (acquired new ones later) and put a down payment on my condo, which has been a lifesaver. Also has been one of the things people are most interested to find out and creates many fun conversations, even now.

Crazy spending:
When my first cat died I adopted a family from the shelter; some of the $$ went to meet initial needs of mom and four kittens! Played too much bingo. Went to my first fannish (Beauty and the Beast, Star Trek, etc.) conventions out of town.

Anything else:
As a school librarian, I'm always thrilled when high school students suddenly get the idea from my experience that learning things, reading, taking in information is cool, exciting, potentially profitable! I enjoy having that influence. Also, it's good to be eccentric! ;-D
