| What happened when you found out you were going to be a contestant?Uh, my parents just told me and I was not very happy, because, um... I don't know, I thought I was going to have to skip one of my favorite trips of all time--going to Michigan's Upper Peninsula--to be here, and I just really didn't want to do it, but it's kind of exciting now. It's sort of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And, I feel lucky to have gotten it. Fortunate. Happy.

How did you prepare for today?
I studied a little of pop music, because I don't like pop music, and I thought that might be something on there.

Russian history, American presidents, science fiction, children's books, that sort of thing.

Do you have a favorite subject in school?
 I like spelling and writing.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
