Students: Viel Glück Frau Decker!
I'm Leslie Decker, I teach at Taylor High School in Taylor, Texas, and I teach German and ESL.
What made you choose teaching as a career?
Long story. Um, I just, uh... I like languages, and I figured that was an option, and I thought I would give it a try. I went to Europe to teach and to see if I liked it. And, it seemed--I seemed to be good at it, so... stuck with it. That was about it. [Laughs]
How did your students react when they found out you made it on Jeopardy!?
Oh, they were super excited. They were really excited about it. "Oh, you gonna bring us..." [Rolls eyes] Yeah, of course, they want me--"Now you gonna take us to Germany, Miss--? Now you gonna take us to Germany?" No. Anyway... [Laughs] No. It's all... They were super excited, so...
What do you hope your students learn from watching you on Jeopardy!?
The teacher's absolutely awesome. [Laughs] As I tell them all the time, they just don't believe it.
