A college instructor from Richardson, Texas...
Date of First Appearance:
$48,401 (5 games) and $5,000 for being a 1996 Tournament semifinalist.
5-time champion, 1996 ToC semifinalist. Won five games without the benefit of a single dollar from Daily Doubles.
Having people I hadn't told about the show call me and ask me if I knew that I was on Jeopardy! (Really???) Personally I really enjoyed the experience of being in the ToC and the camaraderie between the contestants.
Did being on Jeopardy! have any effect on your life?
It was wonderful to get a chance to put all of that “useless” information in my head to productive use. People are always interested in what it is like to be on the show and what Alex is like. I have also been banned from playing Trivial Pursuit with most of the people I know. It also gives you an inner confidence from achieving something so rare.
Did you do anything crazy with your winnings?
Took my wife, parents and brother to Europe, saved a little, lost a “little” in the stock market.
Is there anything else you would like viewers to know about you?
I am the proud father of David (8), Jeffrey (5) and Katherine (5 months) and the lucky husband of my wife Karla who is the best coach a game show contestant could have! I am finishing my Ph.D. in Humanities/Film History and producing a historical documentary on the 1936 Texas Centennial world's fair.
