Favorite Anecdote:
Having grown up in Kentucky, I knew that University of Kentucky basketball players are treated like stars. One day shortly after my appearance I was sitting in the food court at a local mall, coincidentally next to one of the then-current stars on the team. A young boy came up to the player and asked for his autograph--no surprise there. But I was completely shocked when the kid then turned to me, asked if I was the guy on Jeopardy!, and then asked for my autograph! Now if I could just hit a jump shot...
Any affect on life:
Even to this day (12 years later) I will still get recognized, which completely amazes me. And, being on Jeopardy! definitely gives you something to talk about in job interviews.
Do anything crazy:
As I was about to go to a fairly expensive school (Johns Hopkins), I saved most of my money for college. The only thing I really splurged on was a new car stereo system. When you're in high school, you don't have very expensive tastes!
Anything else to know:
I spent a semester my senior year in college studying in Zimbabwe as part of my International Relations/African Studies degree. During that time, I was able also to travel throughout Mozambique, Malawi, and Zambia. |
