A freshman from Napa, California...

Jeffrey Gerlomes

What do you like most aboutJeopardy!?
My favorite thing about Jeopardy! is that it's like, this big, faced-paced exciting event that's on every night. You know, it's like, the Iron Chef or sporting event, except it's with a bunch of trivia. And a lot of times it's genuinely trivial trivia. It's a lot of fun to watch. And then make the people watching it with you wonder how you knew that.

How did you find out you'd be on Jeopardy!?
Uh, well, everyone else in my family knew about a week before me. And, um, uh, for my sister's birthday party we all went out to a restaurant and she was opening up a bunch of cards, and the last one had been put together by the printing shop where my dad works, and it said--had a picture of Alex on the front, with a monitor that said "He will compete in the 2006 Jeopardy! Teen Tournament", and they opened it up and it said "Who is Jeffrey Gerlomes?"

What categories are you hoping to see?
I think some categories about history, or for politics, or a lot of classical or showtune music. Those would be my strong points, definitely. But I got, like, the most random stuff in the world scattered throughout the spectrum of knowledge.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Ten years? I would be 24, so on the way to some sort of advanced degree. Hopefully. I--as far as I'm concerned, the only scoreboard in an argument is the letters after your name.
