Has your life changed since your appearance on Jeopardy!?
Well, I got another son. Uh... We bought a new house prior to getting the money on Jeopardy!, so that's been a blessing for that to come on. Um, people do treat you different when you're, when you're a Jeopardy! champion, they all seem like they're always asking you the capital of Azerbaijan, or something random and unusual just because they think you might probably would know. Uh, people joke that they don't have to think when I'm around, because they can always just turn around and say, "Uhhhh, how do I cut my meat? Oh, my fork's going the wrong way."
How did you prepare for the tournament?
As I mentioned, I have a new son. [Laughs] So I didn't prepare as much as I would have liked. Uh... just, reading, paying more attention. It's funny, because you try and file, file everything away: You think, "Okay, they just had a thing in Haiti, who's the president of Haiti? Or the new guy who just came in?" Or whatever. You're not--I'm actually looking forward to this being over in a sense, because now I can go back to my normal, just, hearing about things, and reading for pleasure, and having fun, and not fearing like, "Now if I read the newspaper I really should be scouring every part of the newspaper," or "If I do a crossword puzzle, I should be paying attention to the clues I didn't know, " or if I, God forbid, read a novel, I should be going back to my almanac or something, so... Um, it's--it's nice, my preparing was just... paying more attention, and trying to do a little fine tuning--very little--on what I didn't think I knew so much of. So... We'll see how it works out.
What categories are you hoping for?
Today I'm hoping for--Renzo in the green room was making jokes about THINGS ABOUT ME... THE STREET I GREW UP ON... Um, literature's a strong point for me, so I'm hoping for anything literature. Um, movies. I think I'm pretty good about anything pop culture and modern news sorta thing. Um... sports is okay. ...Geography is actually fairly okay.
