Kathryn Erbe

A native of Newton, Massachusetts, Kathryn Erbe stars in NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent as the assertive, clever Detective Alexandra Eames. She began her career on stage and has been a working actress since her graduation from New York University. In 1991, she earned a Tony nomination for her portrayal of Mary in The Speed of Darkness.

Television credits include roles in the TNT mini-series George Wallace, on NBC's Homicide: Life on the Street, and on the acclaimed HBO series Oz. In film, Ms. Erbe gained notice in the 1999 film Stir of Echoes opposite Kevin Bacon, as well as in roles in What About Bob?, Rich in Love, and Speaking of Sex. Ms. Erbe has selected two charities. She is playing for JusticeWorks Community, which advocates for just, humane, and effective criminal justice policies, and for Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
