Jack was introduced without an occupation, but just before beginning the Double Jeopardy! Round, Alex referred to him as "our salesman from Los Angeles".

Jack appeared in both known Trebek pilots, and numerous other game show pilots from the late '70s and early '80s, including Blank Check (1975), Second Chance (3rd pilot, 1976), Card Sharks (1st pilot, 1978), and Press Your Luck (1983).
