What do you think makes a great Jeopardy! player?
A great Jeopardy! player has, uh, a natural curiosity about a lot of different subjects. Uh, I think, uh. If you are--know a lot about one or two things, uh, then, you'll probably be very good at what you do in your life, but you won't make a great Jeopardy! contestant.
How did you prepare for this Tournament?
Uh, you can't really prepare for the Tournament, because you have no idea what they're going to ask. Um... My, uh... My son grabbed an almanac and started asking me world capitals, which was fun, but unless they ask about world capitals, it's not going to do you much good.
What categories are you hoping for?
Um, well, I did very well on Beatles music, uh, in my first game, so that topic is always welcome. Um, politics is, is always a good subject. Um, anything in Medieval history I probably wouldn't appreciate very much, but... I'd give it a try.
Have you been treated differently as a result of your appearances?
Um, as a result of being on the show, I've, uh, received a lot of abuse. A lot of, uh... y'know, whenever I don't know anything. People will say, "Hey, how come a Jeopardy! champ doesn't know this?" Um, I also get calls from people I barely know who ask me to settle a bet. Um, and it scares me how often I know the answer to... to what it is that they're arguing about. Uh, but mostly, people are just--are just eager to know about the show. Y'know. To know what Alex is like. Um, to know whether or not I was nervous. It, it's fun to talk about.
How have you spent your past Jeopardy! winnings?
Uh, my winnings... were there winnings? Ah, the winnings! Um, I uh... We spent the winnings on home improvement, mostly, and, uh, we gave to a couple charities that we're particularly close to. |
