A senior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from Pinson, Alabama...

Adam Pinson

How do you feel today?
Nervous and excited, I mean, I feel privileged to be on the show because, uh, I'm from Alabama, small town, and nobody's ever had anything like this happen before, so, you know, a lot of people at home are proud. It's just a good feeling to have all those people behind you.

What happened when you found out you were going to be on Jeopardy!
Uh, well I was at school when I found out, they called me on my cell phone, and, uh... I just about hollered out in the middle of a huge class, because it was right before class started and it was like 100 people in the class, and I just, you know, about hollered out in the middle of the huge room. And my, my granddad, who's been pretty supportive of all my--all this, me trying out for Jeopardy! and my college bowl play, uh, basically, like, cried on the phone and things like that. So it was real touching, most of 'em were really really happy.

Did anyone give you advice about being on the show?
Aw, several people sent me e-mails giving me these little tidbits of knowledge that I should, you know, remember, and some of it is obviously so advanced that it most likely probably wouldn't be on the show, but it's good advice, and it's good things to remember, so they tried to help me out.

Did you do anything special to prepare for today?
Just looked over some of my old college bowl questions and read over that. And that's about it.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Ten years from now I see myself, uh, as hopefully an assistant professor workin' on my tenure at a university somewhere. I'd like to go back and teach at UAB or, uh, somewhere else in the South. I'd rather stay in the South, if possible. That's what I'd like to do.

What is your major?
History.

If you win the $100,000 what will you do with it?
Well, uh, yessir, I hope to use it to finance my graduate education, or at least some of it, and also to uh, hopefully, in the future, propose to my girlfriend. Buy her a nice ring or something. Put the rest of it up and make some money.

Do you have anyone you'd like to say hi to?
Hey, this is Adam Pinson, and I want to say hello to all my former teachers at Pennsylvania High School and the teachers at Bevill State Community College where they taught me a lot about how to play college bowl and how to learn stuff, so thank you.
