Jessica Dell'Era

Students: [Do a wave across the school lawn] Go Ms. Dell'Era!

Hi, I'm Jessica Dell'Era from Oakland, California. I teach a Spanish bilingual third grade in Concord, California.

What's the most rewarding aspect of being a teacher?
The most rewarding aspect of being a teacher is the moment where a child who didn't think that they could do it, they didn't think that they would be able to get that concept, all of a sudden starts to get that foothold. Um, just that "aha" moment is so rewarding.

Did your students help you prepare for the show?
My students were very excited about it, but most of them are English learners, so the show is--is way over their heads. Um, but they're all watching it, even though they don't get it.

What do you hope your students learn from watching you on Jeopardy!?
Um, I hope that they get a sense that they can set a goal and work towards it, and that they can be successful. I've been watching Jeopardy! my entire life, I've always wanted to be on it, and here I am.

What is your dream category?
My dream category is something about Shakespeare. I was a theater major, and so I know a lot about that.

Tune in! You might learn a thing or two!

"She has wanted to be a teacher since she was 7 years old, and she has the journal to prove it. From Oakland, California, say hello to..."
