Hi, I'm Ellen Lewis, a retired math teacher from Mount Vernon, New York. Watch me be calculating on Jeopardy!
[2011-11-17 Winner's Circle interview]
What does being a Jeopardy! champion mean to you?
Well, it means a lot to me because, as I said, I've been watching the show way back with Art Fleming and then, uh, with Alex Trebek all along, watch it just about every single day... [Edit] Being a champion, at least I feel that now I've said, "Okay, I-I got that far, I do know some stuff," and I feel good about it. And I can give some money that I won to charity, too, which is good.
What are the best parts of the Jeopardy! experience?
I think some of the best parts of the Jeopardy! experience is meeting all the people. Everyone here is so nice and so helpful and cooperative and friendly, I never really had time to get nervous. I had time to get a little cold in there, but not nervous...
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be on Jeopardy!?
I think taking the test online, I think that's a great thing. I mean, I'm glad at least my daughter made me, y'know, learn enough about computers that I wasn't afraid to take the online test, so that was a good thing. I say just take it. It can't hurt to take it. All you can do is pass it. |
