How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
This is just completely surreal. [Looks around] I can't even believe I'm on this stage, let alone that I won. [Laughs] It's--it's incredible. I'm so excited. [Laughs]
Was there a turning point for you?
Honestly, no. It came all the way down to that Final Jeopardy!, and I was so scared. I... never really felt like I had it in the bag, but I knew I was playing well, so even if I lost, I wouldn't have regretted a thing.
Any messages to the folks back home?
I--yeah. I-I just wanted to thank my mother. She's... a wonderful mom. And also my high school teacher. And also my quiz bowl coach in high school. So, she's... a lot of the driving force behind all of this. And, also want to thank my fiancé and his mother, who's actually here with me today.

How does it feel to win your second game?
[Mimes supercilious woman drawing an imaginary cigarette away from her lips] So now I've won two episodes of Jeopardy! and... [breaks character] I'm losin' my mind up here! This is so much fun! [Laughs]
Do you have any goals as a Jeopardy! champion?
Um... keep winning, I guess! [Laughs]
Any messages to the folks back home?
Yeah, I'm wondering if my professors at McGill are gonna to find out about this, how they're going to react when the show airs. It's... gonna be entertaining... 'cause it's gonna be right before finals. [Laughs] |
