A lawyer from Bosnia and Herzegovina...
Date of First Appearance:
$72,800, $100,000 (ToC), $5,000 (Super Jeopardy!), $25,000 (Million Dollar Masters)
Like all Jeopardy! champions, I am frequently addressed as "Hey, you're that Jeopardy! Guy!"
5 time champion, ToC winner, top money winnings for several years
I think the most exciting Jeopardy! experience was standing on the stage of Radio City Music Hall in front of thousands of people at the Million Dollar Masters Tournament.
Did being on Jeopardy! have any affect on my life?
Being on Jeopardy! has opened a lot of doors and started a lot of conversations--and the money has given me the freedom to pursue a more unorthodox career than I might have otherwise.
Did I do anything crazy with my winnings?
I travelled to some remote places that I had always wanted to visit, including Yemen and Indonesia.
2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions Nifty Nine (players with byes into Round 2) member: $25,000.
2002 Million Dollar Masters tournament semifinalist: $25,000.
1990 Super Jeopardy! quarterfinalist: $5,000.
1986 Tournament of Champions winner: $100,000.
Season 2 5-time champion: $72,800.
In his UToC game, Chuck was introduced as "a lawyer now living in Bosnia and Herzegovina..."
A contestant early in Season 2, Chuck would remain the regular play winnings record holder with $72,800 until Season 6, when Bob Blake earned a cumulative total of $82,501 in his fifth game, #1152, aired 1989-09-12.
Chuck's style of play was typified by the Forrest Bounce, a clue selection strategy he employed to potentially confuse opponents.
Co-author with Mark Lowenthal of the 1992 book Secrets of the Jeopardy Champions.
