A 12-year-old seventh grader from Aptos, California...

Jake Houser

What categories do you hope to see on the board?
I'm really hoping the categories contain mythology. Specifically, Egyptian.

Do you have a favorite subject in school?
Math and science.

How did you prepare for today?
I listened to Ken Jennings's advice: he said to study world capitals and U.S. presidents; I've been studying some of that. Other than that, I haven't been studying much.

What happened when you found out you were going to be a contestant?
I got tricked. Because um, the local news channel called my mom and told her that they got a fax from Jeopardy! that I was going to be on. And then, she told me that some people were going to come over to interview her about her job. And then during the middle of when they were taping--during the middle of it--I found out--I got a call from an anchorman that found out I was on Jeopardy! So, I got tricked.
