An actor from Crossing Jordan...

Miguel Ferrer

Miguel Ferrer currently stars in NBC's Crossing Jordan, playing forensic examiner Dr. Garret Macy. Mr. Ferrer began his career as a musician. As a studio drummer his credits include playing on Keith Moon's Two Sides of the Moon. Mr. Ferrer had to be talked into accepting his first acting role by bandmate/actor Billy Mumy and was cast as--what else--a drummer.

With an impeccable Hollywood pedigree as the son of Jose Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney it's no wonder that Mr. Ferrer has had success as both an actor and as a musician. His distinctive presence in offbeat character roles has kept him in great demand. Mr. Ferrer has also had big screen success, most notably as a drug dealer-turned-reluctant-informer in Steven Soderbergh's Oscar-winning film Traffic, and in a breakout performance in RoboCop. Not willing to give up music, Mr. Ferrer still finds time to play club dates with Mumy and their band The Jenerators. He has selected the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation as his charity.

Why do you think you will win today?
Ha-ha! I don't think I'm gonna win today, actually. I'm just gonna try to hang on and have some fun and see what happens. Y'know. Harry Smith. Newsguy. If he doesn't beat a couple of trained monkeys like me and Steve... Hanna Storm? She's going to be giving him a hard time.

...

What does winning the game mean to you?
Well I--I--I'm... absolutely shocked and completely speechless that I won. I mean, it really is the last, the last thing I expected. I--I really just wanted to not completely embarrass myself and everyone I know, and just--be on the board. All I wanted to be was on the board. And the fact that, um, I'd won, is just--[Voice over PA says, "Engineering on stage, just giving an all clear, let's see you tomorrow at 10."] ...so I'm really just blown away at this moment.

What was the factor that allowed you to win today?
I don't know, it's all about pressing that button at the right time, y'know--it's all about the button. I think I just had a few, uh, uh... I edged out these guys by a fraction of a second a few lucky times, and I--I was able to bet well in Final Jeopardy!--that's--and come from second place. It's--I don't know. It was a lot of luck, and... it's amazing.

What was your favorite category?
I liked the category in the practice round much better. Yeah. But... It's just--it's amazing. It seems... my wildest dreams. And--and--and it's great, it's great to--to earn money for a--a--a good charity, which is really--what it's really all about.

Could you tell us about your charity?
I was playing for, um, the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, which picks up the slack when, um, any of the employees of the LAPD hit really really unexpected hard times. It also provides money for scholarships, uh, for college, fo, for um, the kids of people who are employed by the LAPD. So it does an awful lot for those people who, uh, y'know, put their lives on the line for the citizens of Los Angeles every day, y'know, day in and day out, year in and year out, and it's, uh, it's--it's really, uh, wonderful, important work they do.
